মুছে গেছে সব, দেনা-পাওনার স্মৃতি

কদিন আগে আমি বাংলা নাটকের বিরাট পোকা হয়ে গিয়েছিলাম। অনলাইন-এ বাংলা নাটকের অভাব নেই, দেখে শেষ করা যায়না এইরকম অবস্থা। গত ক’বছর হল বাংলা নাটক সেই পুরাতন আদল ভেঙ্গে একটু একটু করে বেরিয়ে অসতে পারছে। এখন নাটক মানেই পুতু পুতু জ্ঞানের কথা আর তরুণ-তরুণীর ভালবাসা এবং দেশপ্রেম বিষয়ক প্রত্যক্ষ বা পরোক্ষ উপদেশ-বানী না। এখন বাংলা নাটক অনেক সাবলীল, অনেক স্বাভাবিক এবং অনেক বাস্তবমুখী। কদিন আগে একটা বাংলা নাটকে ‘বাল’ শব্দটার বিশেষ ব্যাবহার দেখলাম। অবশ্যই গর্বিত হবার মত কোন বিষয় না। আমরা চাইনা আমাদের নাটকে অশালীন শব্দের ব্যাবহার থাকুক। কিন্তু ভালো লাগল এই পরিবর্তন দেখে। এখনকার নাটকে সাধারণ জীবনের প্রতিফলন থাকছে। আমি কোনদিন কোন মাস্তান-গুণ্ডাকে বলতে শুনিনি, “এই! তুই আমার দিকে চোখ তুলে তাকিয়েছিস কেন রে শয়তান! আমি কিন্তু এখন তোর চোখ তুলে ফেলব, দুষ্টু” – বরং বলতে শুনেছি, “ওই বাল! তুই আমার দিকে তাকাইয়া কি দেখস? চেহারা মাপতাছছ? চউখ গাইলা দিমু হাউয়ার পোলা, চিনস আমারে” – এখন নাটক মানেই, “আমি এসেছি, তুমি এসেছিলে? তোমাকে ছাড়া আমি বাঁচবোনা, বুঝতে পেরেছ?”- না। এখন নাটক মানে, “আমি আসছি, তুমি কই? গেলে যাওগা, কতো জিনিসআইলো-গেলো, এত ভাবার টাইম নাই মামা”।

আমি জানি আমি হয়ত একটু বাড়িয়ে বলছি, কিন্তু আসলেও ইদানীং নাটক দেখে অনেক মজা পাই। ‘হাউস-ফুল’ একটা নাটক, সেটার সাথে-তো আমি একদম গেঁথে আছি গত কদিন ধরে। ছেলে লেখাপড়া করছে না, মা এসে কান ধরে গদাম করে এক চড় বসালেন, দেখেই ভালো লাগায় মনটা ভরে যায় আমার, কারণ এই চড়টা আমিও খেয়েছি, মায়ের এই রণমুর্তী আমাকেও দেখতে হয়েছে। আমি বলছি না লেখাপড়া না করলে শিশুদের চড়-থাপ্পড় মারা উচিত, তবে শিশুদের চড় দেয়ার প্রচলন থাকলে নাটকেও সেটা দেখানোর সাহস থাকা উচিত। আমরা যেই ভাবে কথা বলি, এখনকার অনেক নাটক সেইভাবে কথা বলে। আমাদের ভাল লাগে। নাটক কেন সব সময় শুদ্ধ, পরিমেয়, উন্নত-রুচির হতে হবে, যেখানে আমাদের আশেপাশে তথাকথিত সেইসব উন্নত রুচির মানুষ মাত্র হাতে গোনা ক’জন এবং যারা জ্ঞানের কচকচানি ছাড়া আমাদের বিশেষ আর কিবা দিতে পেরেছেন! অর্থহীন কিছু, “এটা করো না, ওটা করো না, এটা সুস্থ, ওটা অসুস্থ, তোমরা বুঝ না, আমরা বুঝি, তোমরা জান না, আমরা জানি” এই মায়াজালে আটকে রাখতে চেয়েছেন আমাদের সারা-বেলা। সবাই অসভ্য হয়ে যাক এটা আমাদের কাম্য না, তবে সবাই স্বাভাবিক হউক, এটা আমরা অবশ্যই চাইতে পারি।

সব থেকে বিরক্ত লাগে গ্রামের নাটক দেখতে। গ্রামের নাটক মানেই একদল সহজ-সরল মানুষ, যারা খুব গুছিয়ে কোন একটা বিশেষ আঞ্চলিক ভাষায় টেনে টেনে বিরাট বিরাট সব ভাবের কথা বলেন। একজন থাকেন চেয়ারম্যান সাব, যিনি একাই দুষ্টের শিরোমণি লঙ্কার রাজা সেজে সবাইকে যন্ত্রণা করেন, উনার সাথে আবার সবসময় একটাই চামচা থাকে! একি ঘটনা, একি ব্যাপার, সেই ঘুরেফিরে। সেই দিনতো এখন আর নেই, এখন গ্রামের মানুষ মোবাইল ফোন দিয়ে কথা বলে দিন-রাত, অনলাইনে বসে বসে হয়তো এই ব্লগ-ও পড়ছে, কে জানে! গ্রামের মানুষ এখন শার্ট প্যান্ট পরে বাজারে যায়। একটা গ্রামে এখন শুধু একজনই শিক্ষিত ছেলে থাকে না, আরও অনেক বেশী থাকে। সবকিছু বদলাচ্ছে, আমাদের নাটক কেন বদলাবে না? অবশ্যই গ্রাম নিয়ে চমৎকার কিছু নাটক হয় মাঝে মাঝে, কিন্তু তার সংখ্যা খুবই কম আর না হয় সেসব আমার রাডারে ধরা পড়ে না। অনেকদিন আগে একটা নাটকে দেখেছিলাম গ্রামের একজন দরিদ্র স্কুল শিক্ষককে নিয়ে, যার আদতে কোন স্কুলই ছিল না। তিনি গাছের নিচে ছাত্র পড়াতেন আর স্বপ্ন দেখতেন তিনি একদিন একটা স্কুল গড়বেন। তার সেই স্বপ্ন কোনদিনও পূরণ হয়নি। স্কুল হয়েছিলো ঠিকই, কিন্তু তার শিক্ষাগত যোগ্যতার অভাব থাকার কারণে তিনি সেই স্কুলের শিক্ষক হতে পারেন নি। কাগজের সার্টিফিকেটের কাছে তার আন্তরিক ইচ্ছা হেরে গিয়েছিলো।

নাটক এমন হওয়া উচিত যেটা আমাদের ভাবতে শেখায়, যেটা আমাদের পাশ কাটিয়ে চলে যেতে শেখায় না। আমরা সাধারণ দর্শকরা যদি নাটকের সাথে নিজেদের জীবন সম্পৃক্ত করতে নাই পারি, তাহলে নাটকের সেই গোপন এবং মহান জ্ঞানের বানী (যেসব নাট্যকাররা আমাদের ঠেসে ধরে গেলাতে চান) কোনদিনও আমাদের কানে এসে ঢুকবে না। আমরাতো ভেবে নিবো, “হেহ! ধুরও এইটা তো নাটক, নাটকতো নাটকই, নাটকে কিনা বলে ছাগলে কিনা খায়”।

আমি আস্তে আস্তে শ্যাম্পু হয়ে যাচ্ছি। এক চামচ শ্যাম্পু দিয়ে যেমন এক বালতি ফেনা হয়, আমিও একটা কথা বলতে গিয়ে তেত্রিশটা কথা বলে ফেলি। শুধু একটা গান পোস্ট করতে এসেছিলাম, কত কিছু লিখে ফেললাম হুড়মুড় করে। যাই হোক, গানের কথায় আসি। ‘উপসংহার’ নাটকের গান। উপসংহার নাটকটা দেখে খুবই ভালো লেগেছিল। স্বাভাবিক এবং স্বার্থপর মানুষের গল্প নিয়ে নাটক। নাটক আমার খুব একটা মনে থাকে না, দেখি আবার ভুলে যাই। তবে এই নাটকের কাহিনী আমি এখনও মনে করতে পারি, নামটাও মনে আছে। নাটকের শেষে এই গানটা ছিল, “মুছে গেছে সব দেনা-পাওনার স্মৃতি”। গানটা আসলেও দারুণ নাকি নাটকের জন্যই গানটা দারুণ লেগেছিল জানি না। হুট করে শুনলে অতটা ভালো নাও লাগতে পারে। আজ অনেকদিন পর YouTube-এ গানটা পেলাম। ছেপে দিলাম।

দ্বিতীয় গানটা একটা বিখ্যাত লালনগীতি। দুটো গানই ‘লালন’ ব্যান্ডের।

Irena Sendlerowa (1910-2008), A Polish Heroine

“May 12, 2008, marked the death of a 98-year-old lady named Irena Sendlerowa. She was born in Poland in 1910. During WWII, Irena, a German, received permission from the Nazis to work in the Warsaw ghetto as a plumbing/sewer specialist.

She had an ulterior motive…

Irena knew the Nazis’ plans for the Jews and smuggled infants out in the bottom of the large tool box she carried. Larger children were placed in a burlap sack in the back of her truck. Also in the back was a dog that she had trained to bark each time the Nazi guards allowed her out of the ghetto and back in.

The soldiers, of course, wanted nothing to do with the dog, and its barking covered any noise made by the infants and small children. Irena managed to smuggle out approximately 2,500 children before she was finally caught.

When she was captured, the Nazis beat her severely, breaking both her arms and her legs.

Irena kept a record of the names of all the children she smuggled out of that Warsaw ghetto and kept them in a glass jar buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents who may have survived so she might reunite the child with its family. Most, of course, did not survive the Holocaust, and the vast majority of the surviving children were placed in foster homes or adopted.

Irena was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, but she lost to Al Gore, who won the award for presenting a slide show on the philosophy behind global warming.”

Remarkable person. She deserved the Noble Prize, I agree. I went to few forums, websites and found out that everyone is blaming Al Gore for winning the award. It took 62 years for the world to value this wonder woman and now it’s Al Gore’s fault?

There is a new genre in Bangla music called ‘Jibonmukhi Gaan’. Jibonmukhi gaan means ‘songs about life’. Sumon Chattapaddhay first started this type of music by writing songs about everyday life and ordinary people. Eventually Nachiketa Ghosh, Anjan Dutta and many others have followed Sumon’s footsteps. Shilajit is one of those ‘many others’. He writes, composes and sings. Even though none of my friends like the type of music Shilajit does (‘atel’ type, in their opinion), I find them quite interesting. :p His wordings are uncommon and the sound effects he uses in his tracks are exceptional (like the ping-pong ball dropping sound in the song ‘Ja Pakhi’, reminds me of my college canteen where we used to play table tennis). Anyway, I am posting few of his songs, check by yourself.

Gnarls Barkley – Who Cares!

Gnarls Barley is one crazy music group well-known for their crazy lyrics and insane videos. In fact the song ‘Crazy’, a Marvin Gaye remix, is their most hit song. The band consists of rapper/singer Cee Lo and producer Danger Mouse (DJ from New York). Even though they are known as a hip-hop band, they don’t follow any certain genre. Their music are mostly a mix of r&b, pop, hip hop and electronic. Their first album ‘St. Elsewhere’ came out in 2006 and now they are working on their next album ‘Atlantis’; expected to come out sometime this year. First time I listened to ‘Crazy’, I thought it was just little above OK. I knew it had topped #1 in UK and #4 in US charts, and was quite surprised. Then I heard ‘Who cares’. I still remember the first time I listened to this song; I was driving outbound on Brooklyn bridge, got stuck in the stupid NYC traffic, my ipod was on shuffle mode, suddenly this song came on and I was just stunned by the richness of the music and thoughtful lyric. Now it’s your turn.

Sometimes I feel like I never write anything positive in my blog. So far all my posts are about disappointments, accidents, disasters and what not. So last time when I posted about ‘Sidr’, I was thinking my next post would be about something good and positive. Unfortunate me, another bad thing has happened today. Bangla band group Dolchut’s Shanjib Chowdhury has passed away due to a brain haemorrhage. (link: DailyNews). I have always loved Dolchut’s music and preferred Shanjib’s compositions over Bappa’s (another lead of Dolchut).

So, what’s up with me!! Have I stopped paying attention towards the good side of life or good things have stopped happening around me?

Anyway, here is a song by country music legend Johnny Cash. He covers Nine Inch Nail’s ‘Hurt’. I believe this was his last official music release.

Dim Shongeet

These are two songs [i don't know why the heck i am calling them songs] I composed almost a year ago. I don’t wanna call them parody songs, cause I wrote them while I was thinking about the love of my life: ‘dim’, to express my great affection towards it :p Yes! both of these songs [or, should I say skits!] are about eggs. Since childhood I have liked and adored eating eggs. :p I still remember me and my brother watching cartoons on tv and eating boiled eggs when we were kids. Though I don’t eat as much eggs as I used to, [too much cholesterol in egg yolks. I want to live 101 years :p] I still feel that great love deep down in my heart. :p

I didn’t sit down to write and sing them purposely. One time I downloaded a software that could remove the vocal from an audio track. So just to see how did it work, i recorded the first dim song removing the original vocal. The second one is just g1bBeRi$h. I was playing my guitar and was singing ‘ja ichha tai’. [i am not that good with guitar either].

Enough of the story. I know you will be thanking God for having a pause/stop button. :p

Death of an American Hero??!!

Brigadier General Paul Tibbets, the pilot who dropped “Little Boy” (the first atomic bomb ever used in a war) at Hiroshima Japan on 6th August 1945 and killed 140,000 civilians, has died last Thursday (1^st November 2007) at the age of 92. In a recent interview he said he had no regrets over the people were killed or injured on that day and made a point of saying he slept easily at night.

(‘Enola Gay’ was the plane that carried ‘Little Boy’. It was named after Enola Gay Tibbets, the mother of Paul Tibbets)

I have done some research on him today and found out that most of the Americans consider him as a hero and are actually proud of him. One patriot even declares in a forum thread that a single American life is worth more than the entire population of Japan and by murdering thousands of innocent children and their mothers in Hiroshima, this guy saved many US soldiers’ lives and took the revenge on Japan for killing 3,000 American soldiers in Pearl Harbor.

I don’t know what to say, ‘General’. I know you were just doing your duty and you didn’t make the call, many others were involved. But I still feel disgraceful for what you did. I wish I could salute you and praise you for murdering 140,000 of my kind.
